In the midst of our troubles and suffering we are called to trust and hope in God's redemptive power, that is, how God actively works to transform our suffering into something beautiful and purposeful. In Lamentations Chapter 3, we find Jeremiah at one of the lowest points in his life. As he witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem, he suffers through an excruciating painful ordeal. However, during his pain, his hope is renewed as he remembers the faithfulness of the Lord. Jeremiah's trust in God was rooted in hope that came from his belief in God's faithfulness. Like Jeremiah, our trust and faith in God should be deeply rooted in hope even during our despair and suffering.
