In Luke 8:22-25 Jesus told his disciples to get on a boat and go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. After boarding the boat, Jesus decided to take nap. While he was asleep, a violent windstorm pounded against the boat. The boat was tossed from side to side. Seeing water getting into the boat, it terrified the disciples. As a result of their fear, they made a crucial choice. They ran to Jesus, woke him, and cried to him, "Master, Master, we are going to drown." Jesus got up, rebuked the storm and the storm immediately subsided. Although the disciples allowed their fear to overwhelm them, it did not deter their faith. They realized  the source of their rescue was on the boat. This should be encouraging to us when we are going through a storm in our life. When trials and trouble are making life difficult, we should keep our faith, turn to Jesus, and trust that he is with us and will never leave us. From the disciple’s experience on the boat in the violent storm, we learn that fear does not disqualify our faith, but when we rely on Jesus in troublesome times, our fear can validate our faith.
